The rhythm section is in a hypnotic groove, the bass with an extraordinary gravely tone anchored in doom, while layered lead guitars dance and interweave in jams reminiscent of a hazy sun-baked Woodstock. Add in some existential lyrics which call to mind Albert Camus' The Stranger (which inspired The Cure's Killing an Arab) and what you get is a superb album.
